Halloween 2017

Another Halloween! We started the day at IHOP with scary face pancakes and hot chocolate. Amelia wore her Dorthy costume to school while the boys waited until after school. Jack was a deadly skeleton and Jacob was a super carrot. Dad walked them around the neighborhood this year. They were not gone long since their buckets got so full the weight of it made their hands hurt. So they have a week to eat what the can, which I am sure is all of it.

Jack

Just last week Jack won 2nd prize out our church's Amazing Race Event; the prize was a 5.00 McDonald's gift card. As promised he assured Dad that he would treat him to a milkshake since he took me to dinner. :)

Amelia

Yesterday I went on once last trip to the pumpkin patch with Amelia. I was a chaperone for her class trip. At the pumpkin patch we wondered around looking at trees, pumpkins and squash. The kids heard a presentation on how to grow pumpkins. We ended with each getting to pick out a pumpkin to take home, well back to school. The rest of the week the kids are doing scientific investigations with their pumpkins. Seeing if it will float, dissecting it, things like that.It was a good time because it was the last one. Next year there will be no more class trips to the pumpkin patch: the end of an era as the kids get older. Amelia is so grown-up now and at the same time only in kindergarten, bittersweet.

Jack

My wonderful Jack took me to dinner tonight! At his school Glow Run he won a raffle for a dinner for two at IHOP and decided to take me. Now he did some serious thinking about who he was going to take since he could only take one other person but in the end it was me. Jack reassured Dad the next time he won a dinner for two he would take him.
Dinner was great. He order a giant hot chocolate with 2 inches of whip cream on top, a scary face pancake that comes with whip cream, oreo cookies, and candy corn, plus a hot fudge sundae for dessert. He didn't finish the sundae, only ate the whip cream off the top.
He told me about third grade so far. He said he is awesome at math; really good if there is a times test. He said God has gifted him with amazing soccer goalie skills; he can shut down any player trying to score a goal. Although today he said he only played soccer for a little while at recess because he saw his friend Josh playing leap frog and wanted to play that.
I just love me Jack man!

Jacob

We recently changed Jack to a Wednesday afternoon cub scout group. This means that Jacob and Amelia ride the bus home every Wednesday. I told Jacob he is in charge and told Amelia to listen to Jacob. They are home for about an hour by themselves. I am not worried in the least since all they do is watch tv.
The first time I picked them up from home I wanted to initial Amelia's behavior chart from school before I forgot. I flipped up the binder to find "JF" had already initialed. I looked at Jacob. He confidentially told me, "Well it does say guardian and I am kinda her guardian so I signed it." I was like alright sounds good. Like I said before I am not worried in the least.

Amelia

Amelia is doing so great at school. She was given the Student of the Month award for September for responsibility. Apparently she was called up at the K-2 assembly on Thursday to receive a certificate. I didn't even known the school did those kinds of awards but am not surprised at all that Amelia was recognized. She is really enjoying kindergarten and is adjusting well to school. I am so proud of her.
