Jacob

Jacob at age 13 has just as big or a little bigger feet then me. Which also means he has almost the same size feet as his Dad. As a boy with a tall mom, getting taller then me will take a little longer but the day will come and Jacob will never let me forget that day!

Cards

We taught the kids how to play Spades. I chose that game because Dan use to play it a lot. I figured the kids would like it because they like card games and games with strategy involved.  We have had some rowdy nights of Spades! I hope we can keep playing, not just Spades but other card games.

Actually last night we played 21, a request of Jack. Instead of playing for money or candy, we played with time. The kids were betting 5 minute increments of time for staying up late for bedtime. ha! It was pretty tense game. Jack got up to 26 minutes, Amelia 5 and Jacob 10. The last hand we decided to do double or nothing! Jacob won with a 20, Amelia busted, and Jack, despite his better judgement to bet, lost it all! It was fun and we will probably do more hands of 21 like that.

Amelia

Amelia decided she wanted her hair cut so we had Carissa, Myrna's daughter who cuts hair, do it. I was a little nervous she wouldn't like it since it was such a dramatic cut but she did! Carissa did an amazing job cutting it. Amelia said next time she wants it even shorter! Wow. I was like ok if you want, but that won't be for a while anyways.

Jack

To get more time the other day Jack made and cleaned up dinner for us. He made scrambled eggs, bacon and waffles for dinner. He did a great job, not only with making everything, but with all the timing of the meal. He put the bacon and waffles in the oven to keep warm since he said he was concerned about things being cold while the eggs cooked.  He even did some of the dishes while he had things cooking to cut down on clean up time after dinner.

Christmas Break 2020

Christmas break was a much needed break this year. With online schooling, school work and Ms. Stephanie dying we all need time to just heal and hang out. The first part we went to Umma and Uppa's, of course, for Christmas Eve and Christmas. Just being away from the daily grind of school work and chores was amazing. Christmas Eve was of course amazing, as usual. Umma and Uppa pull out all the stops for Christmas. All three kids got Nintendo Switches!! Jack said, beside getting Robin for Christmas it was the best one he ever had. Jacob's face was priceless as he realized what it was. For a kid that doesn't show his emotions on the outside for very long it was a knock-down reaction. His mouth was agape, his eyes wide and ended with a huge smile. His pubescent voice squeaky at Uppa about how amazing it was. Amelia and Jack had equally amazed reactions. Needless to say Christmas day was very quiet. lol

Christmas day we went to Gramma Sharpes' since 1) Mike and family was gone to Hawaii and we weren't seeing any other family members on Dan's side and 2) Gramma has better wifi so the kids could setup their Nintendo Switches faster.

A fun adventure the boys had was John took them wheeling the Saturday after Christmas. We all were hoping they would get a chance to go sometime but it finally happened! All of them, including Dan, came back with big smiles and stories to tell about the day. Needless to say they had a blast! And John is officially cemented as the best uncle ever!

The rest of the break was all about hanging out at the house. It is amazing how little can get done in a whole week. I am praying that our transition back into school goes smoothly, fingers crossed.
