Amelia

Amelia loves a good spa/movie date with me. The other day I bought some good smelling face masks at the store for Amelia and I to use together. Once Amelia saw the masks she kept wanting to do a "spa night." Last night, we finally got too. We washed our faces, put on the masks and listened to spa music. I asked her why she liked doing spa days as we were laying our bed. She said she liked to do it because it made her skin feel healthy since she doesn't usually wash her face. I chuckled a bit and told her she should probably wash her face every time she takes a shower. My favorite part of spa night is Amelia likes to lay side by side on my bed, holding my hand, while talking to me about whatever. It is a precious time for me to hold onto.

Jack

Jack bought himself a new tent for camping. It is a North Face 2 person tent. As soon as he got it he set it up in the front yard, put his new sleeping pad in it and hung out. I believe he feel asleep in it for a while too since he had gotten up so early that day. That night Jacob and him planned on sleeping in it but Jacob bailed at the last minute. Lucky for Jack, since he was still going to sleep in it, Dad came to the rescue and slept in the tent with him. Here is what happened:

Dad came out the front door.

Jack: "Who's that?"

Dad: "Its me, Dad."

Jack: "What are you doing?"

Dad: "I came out to sleep in the tent with you."

Jack: "Thanks, Dad."

Jacob

Jacob can now play school sports. Because of COVID things are very different but at least he gets to play something. To start things off he started football this year. He was very surprised I let him play since in the past I would not allow him too. I am not a big fan of kids rattling their little developing brains in helmets. But because of COVID the kids can't touch each other so there is no tackling! It actually works in his favor since he has never played before the coaches focus on fundamental position drills and general sports conditioning. The first day of practice he came home and went directly to his bed to lay down. He generally says he's sore now and sleeps better at night.

Next sport is baseball...

2nd Trimester

So we have made it thru 2 out of 3 trimesters of school. This is the first school year of the kids' that I can't wait for it to be over. School just has been a circus this year. I would say the second trimester has gone soooo much better then the first.

For a special treat I took Jacob out to lunch. Myrna even let us borrow the Mercedes so we got to cruise to lunch with the top down on a sunny day. Jacob said it was his first time in a convertible so he was excited. He would have been more excited to drive it but maybe someday. lol

Jack wanted a 2 liter bottle of Mt. Dew, which is super gross but that's what he wanted. I think the bottle was gone by 2:00 pm the day he got it. I am very proud of Jack this trimester. He had a very very rough start to the year but he has gained his footing and now does a great job at school.

Amelia did a good job in school this trimester. She got to actually go to school longer, till 2:35, so that helps. She didn't get a special treat though, since she did have a hard time completing her work at home without throwing fits but she still got it done correctly.

Now just 61 more days of school left!!

Jacob

Jacob will always be my Angel Baby, but tonight my Angel Baby shaved for the first time. Dada pulled him into the bathroom and showed him the basics. Lucky for Jacob the only thing that has grown hair so far is his upper lip so no jawlines to tackle quite yet but the day is coming!

Spokane State Park - Bowl and Pitcher

Over President's Day weekend we went up to Spokane State Park. We rented a super neat cabin at the state park there. On the way up, which was treacherous with snow and ice, the kids played their screens so they didn't notice a thing.  Once we were up there we hiked, lounged around, did crafts, watched movies and played games. The cabin had a microwave so all we brought was microwavable food. Jack loved his kid's tv dinner. Since it was winter no one else was near our cabin so the kids and Skipper could play outside all they wanted. Most of the time they played some sort of game that included many weapons and defending the hill we were on. Jack had a whole elaborate scenario of battle plans and weapons to defeat the enemy. Amelia played along real well with the whole thing. Jacob did his best despite his teenage imagination.  It was also Valentine's Day so I brought treats, cookies and special surprises. For a Valentine's activity we each took turns writing one thing we loved about each other and ourselves on paper hearts.

Here is list of the kids':

Snow

We got our giant snow of the year over President's Day weekend, about a foot. It has been so fun watching the kids play in the snow. The plow piled up our road's worth of snow at the end of the cul de sack again. The kids have since then dug tunnels around and threw it. As the days go on the snow fort has become more elaborate. The kids, along with Skipper, have spent a ton of time enjoying it.
